Parkour or l'art du déplacement (French) is a physical discipline and an art of motion that trains your body to overcome obstacles in an environment. A Parkour practitioner is called a traceur (male) or traceuse (female) and he/she runs along a path attempting to negotiate obstacles in the most efficient way possible, using only their bodies. Skills such as jumping, climbing, vaulting, rolling and swinging are employed. Parkour can be practiced anywhere, but areas dense with obstacles are preferable, and it is most commonly practiced in urban areas.
History
The discipline was founded by David Belle and Sébastien Foucan in a small town called Lisses, France.
